CONTEXT

The writer of Hebrews is encouraging believers who were facing persecution and pressure to turn away from Christ.

Just before this verse, he explains that Jesus' once-for-all sacrifice gives believers confident access to God.

Because of Christ's finished work, they are urged to remain steadfast.

The focus is not on their strength, but on God's faithfulness.

WHAT IT MEANS

“Hold fast” means to remain firm and not let go.

“The confession of our hope” refers to the truth of the gospel and the hope found in Christ.

“Without wavering” calls believers to remain faithful even when circumstances are difficult.

Our confidence rests in God's promises because He is faithful.

WHAT IT DOES NOT MEAN

This does not mean believers never experience doubt or hardship.

It is not a call to rely on personal determination.

The foundation of perseverance is not our strength.

It is the faithfulness of the God who always keeps His promises.

WHAT THIS CALLS US TO

Hold firmly to the hope you have in Christ.

Do not let changing circumstances determine your confidence.

Remember that God is faithful even when life is difficult.

Continue trusting Him because His promises never fail.
