CONTEXT
Paul is writing to believers about what they have in Christ.
He begins by outlining the work of God in salvation.
The focus is not on human effort, but on God’s action.
This sets the foundation for understanding the gospel.
WHAT IT MEANS
“In Him we have redemption” means we are set free through Christ.
“Through His blood” points to His death as the cost.
Forgiveness of sins is given, not earned.
It comes from the riches of God’s grace.
WHAT IT DOES NOT MEAN
This does not mean forgiveness is earned through obedience.
Salvation is not based on personal effort.
It is not something we contribute to.
Redemption is fully accomplished through Christ alone.
WHAT THIS CALLS US TO
Grace removes the idea of earning forgiveness.
The response is trust in what Christ has done.
This leads to a life shaped by gratitude, not striving.
You live from grace, not for it.
