CONTEXT

An angel is speaking to the women who came to Jesus’ tomb after His crucifixion.

They expected to find His body, but instead are met with an empty tomb.

This takes place on the third day, just as Jesus had said.

The message confirms that His death was not the end.

WHAT IT MEANS

“He is not here” declares that Jesus is no longer in the grave.

“He is risen” confirms that death did not hold Him.

This fulfills Jesus’ own words about His resurrection.

The empty tomb reveals His authority over sin and death.

WHAT IT DOES NOT MEAN

This is not symbolic or metaphorical language.

The resurrection is not a spiritual idea but a real event.

It is not based on feeling or personal belief.

The truth of the gospel rests on the reality that Jesus physically rose.

WHAT THIS CALLS US TO

The resurrection confirms that Jesus is Lord.

Faith is not simply agreeing with facts, but trusting the One who is alive.

This calls for surrender, not just acknowledgment.

A living Savior requires a life that follows Him.
