JOHN 14:15
“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

CONTEXT
Jesus is speaking to His disciples on the night before His crucifixion.
He is preparing them for His departure and teaching them what life as His followers will look like.
Immediately after this command, Jesus promises the coming Helper, the Holy Spirit.
Obedience is presented within a relationship with Christ, not as a way to earn one.

WHAT IT MEANS
“If you love Me” places love for Christ at the center of obedience.
“Keep My commandments” shows that genuine love for Jesus changes how we live.
Biblical love is more than admiration, emotion, or words.
Love for Christ produces a growing desire to follow what He has commanded.

WHAT IT DOES NOT MEAN
This does not mean we obey so that Jesus will love or save us.
Salvation is God’s gift of grace, not something earned through obedience.
Christians will still struggle with sin and will not obey perfectly.
Jesus is describing obedience that flows from love, not religious performance.

WHAT THIS CALLS US TO
Love for Jesus should reach beyond what we say about Him.
It should shape our decisions, priorities, relationships, and actions.
When His commands conflict with our desires, love responds by submitting to Him.
We obey because Christ is worthy, not because obedience earns His love.
